HOLY SELFHOOD

I looked within, and hidden there
behind the ego's love affair
with mortal selfhood
was a different, holy, sinless me.
An image bathed in heaven's light
revealed to my expectant sight
a radiant vision
of my Self as Love's facsimile.
How long this true identity
lay hidden there concealed from me
was unimportant.
What I saw was not of time or space.
It was the me that God had made
replacing a grotesque charade
the ego used
to foster its incredible disgrace.
The one it labels "mortal man" —
a concept God saw fit to ban
in the beginning,
giving man a life that cannot die.
So look with me beyond facades
which mortal men believe are God's
enactments sent to
punish mortal men who go awry.
The Self you find within today
will now through Spirit's means convey
to those who listen
thoughts of truth which lift them from the sod.
And they will look within and find
their true Self there concealed behind
the ego's dreaming
of a man that's separate from God.
There never was a mortal you.
You are the One which God foreknew
from the beginning,
made to be the image of His Love.
Rejoice at what you find within,
and disregard the ego's spin
on false appearance.
You are truly one with God above!
