In Jesus statement, (John 8:32), Ye shall know the truth, and the
truth shall make you free., he has given us the eternal recipe for all spiritual
healing. His statement is a simple but profound description of exactly how truth heals.
Here Jesus confirms a universal fact: that a conscious recognition and acknowledgment of
what is true inevitably removes the deceptive influence and destructive effects of error
from our thinking and therefore from our experience.
However, 'knowing the truth' as a means of demonstrating ones exemption
from error, or evil, is not unique to Jesus teaching or to his time. In the early chapters
of Genesis, before the flood, this spiritual knowing played an important part in
Noahs receptivity to Gods message and in his foresight in building the ark.
Thousands of years later, the Book of Revelation shows that it was just as instrumental in
Johns ability to receive and to record the vision of the Apocalypse.
As a matter of fact, the one indispensable element present in every account of Biblical
healing, from Genesis to Revelation, is a conscious recognition and acknowledgment of the
truth. And this same element is equally important in the practice of spiritual or
Christian healing today. Only by knowing what is true are we able to follow Jesus
command, (Matt. 10:8), to heal the sick. This is a purely spiritual activity,
which ultimately destroys the influence of error in our thinking and brings to light the
true nature of God and man as revealed in the Bible.
