FORWARD
M asquerading as the so-called human ego, the "carnal mind"1
struggles mightily against Spirit. In its futile quest for legitimacy,
this parody of genuine selfhood concocts a fraudulent bodily
image of man with which to unite, convinced that doing so will lend
validity to its delusions of autonomy. With predictable, self-
absorbed arrogance, it wages an imaginary and vain warfare
against the relentless onslaught of spirituality, an onslaught
which has already exposed its nothingness, and an onslaught
against which it is incapable of mounting a defense.
The poems in this collection were written specifically to focus
the light of scrutiny on this imaginary conflict and its clear-
cut objective: to perpetuate the lie in human thought that man
has somehow become separated from God and stripped of his divine
Sonship. Actually, nothing could be farther from the truth!
Each of these poems was prepared as food for thought on this topic.
They were written especially with those thinkers in mind who value
and appreciate the chewing process, and who relish the challenge of
a little mental roughage.
I realize that Mind, or Spirit, is the primary source of all true
ideas. Nevertheless, gratitude compels me to acknowledge other
tangible sources of inspiration from which I have drawn immeasurably
in the preparation of this particular collection. Foremost among
these sources are The King James Version of the Bible; The
Writings of Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of
Christian Science; and A Course In Miracles, published by the
Foundation For A Course In Miracles. For the continued availability of
these great treasures, I am forever grateful.
