Spirit and The Ego
Clash of Ancient Titans

COLLECTED POEMS

FORWARD

Masquerading as the so-called human ego, the "carnal mind"1 struggles mightily against Spirit. In its futile quest for legitimacy, this counterfeit selfhood conjures up a fraudulent bodily image of man with which to identify, convinced that doing so will lend validity to its delusions of autonomy. With predictable, self-absorbed arrogance, it wages an imaginary and vain warfare against the relentless onslaught of spirituality, — an onslaught which has already exposed its nothingness, and an onslaught against which it has no real defense.

Each poem in this collection was written specifically to focus the light of honest scrutiny on this imaginary conflict and its clear-cut objective: to perpetuate the lie in human thought that man has somehow become separated from God and stripped of his divine Sonship. Nothing could be further from the truth! These poems were written especially for the earnest inquirer, for those who value and appreciate the spiritual insight and discernment which enables them to distinguish truth from falsehood. What is presented is an alternative, not a conventional perspective.

Gratitude compels me to acknowledge certain tangible sources of inspiration from which I have drawn immeasurably in the preparation of this particular collection. Foremost among these sources are The King James Bible; Science and Health With Key To the Scriptures, by Mary Baker Eddy, and A Course In Miracles, published by the Foundation For ACIM.

To those responsible for the continued availability of these immense treasures, I am forever grateful.
